The short version

This site has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no ads. We don't collect your name, email or payment details, unless you choose to give an email when you report a problem. We use Google Analytics to see which pages and comparisons people use, and some links pay us a commission.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages, comparisons and links get used. It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to tell one visit from the next. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so this data isn't used to target ads at you. Google's account of how it handles this data is at policies.google.com. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Affiliate links

Some links to retailers, including Amazon and eBay, are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click one of these links, that retailer may set its own cookies to credit the sale. Their privacy policies apply on their sites.

The Instagram card

A small card in the corner offers our Instagram account. When you close it or follow, your browser stores a date in local storage so the card stays away for a while. That date never leaves your device.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

Links to other sites

We link to manufacturers' spec sheets, state regulations and other sites. We don't control them, and their own policies apply.
